Sentosa Spotlight on Singapore Hotels

Off to Singapore's Southern shore lies the wonderful island resort of Sentosa, one of the main tourist attractions in the city-state of Singapore. With over 5 million visitors every year, it is only natural that Sentosa has several hotels to provide lodging for so many tourists and travelers.

With a stretch of sheltered beach going for 2 whole kilometers and many other tourist attractions such as museums, golf courses, oceanariums, and entertainment venues, Sentosa is one of Singapore's hottest properties. It can act like a stand-alone destination because of its many attractions. Given all of this, the island resort features numerous hotels mainly focused in the 4- and 5-star range.

To date, there are currently seven (7) hotels and resorts on the former military outpost. The group of establishments is bannered by a couple of top-class 5-star hotels: the Rasa Sentosa Resort run by Shangri-La and the Sentosa Singapore.

The Rasa Sentosa Resort is Sentosa's one-and-only beachfront property overlooking the South China Sea, and it is located conveniently in the Western tip of Siloso Beach. The 5-star hotel features 459 rooms all with top-of-the-line furnishings. If access to a wide variety of water sports activities on the beach and at the sea sports center is not enough for guests, they can always use the hotel's very own free-form swimming pool and a couple of outdoor Jacuzzis.

The Sentosa Singapore is the second of the Sentosa 5-star hotels. Its main attraction is the first garden destination spa in all of Singapore: Spa Botanica. Spa Botanica has mud pools, a meditation labyrinth, flotation pools, and even Turkish steam baths-really unique spa features that complement the indoor spa treatments. This 214-suite establishment is sprawled over a woodland area of more than 27 acres.

While Sentosa has its own big guns, there are also other alternative lodging establishments. For example, the Costa Sands Resort is a relatively-small destination that has some chalets along with 15 huts that resemble those from kampong villages. This really gives the place an exotic feel. There is a 64-room establishment called Treasure Resort, which is located just behind the iconic Merlion landmark.

The recently-opened Siloso Beach Resort is an accredited environment-friendly establishment. It has more than 600 native Sentosa trees preserved within the premises, along with subsequently planted fruit trees, flowering plants, ferns, and other exotic plants. The resort was designed specifically to protect these plants.
